Live butterflies, moths & other invertebrates

Supplier of live butterflies and moths in the UK. High quality insects, from ethical captive breeding projects, at affordable prices.

About us

Bugs & Butterflies UK began as a small hobby project created by our owner, Stuart, who originally sold surplus livestock from his personal breeding collections. It quickly became clear that there was a growing community of people passionate about rearing butterflies, moths and other insects—so the hobby expanded into a dedicated business supplying a wide range of live species across the UK.

Today, Bugs & Butterflies UK provides eggs, caterpillars, pupae and live insects to hobbyists, educators, collectors, academic institutions, zoos and public butterfly houses. We specialise in high-quality livestock for rearing projects of all experience levels, from beginners to advanced breeders.

Sustainability

Sustainability is at the core of everything we do at Bugs & Butterflies UK. Our work is built on supporting biodiversity, protecting natural ecosystems and ensuring that no natural resources are depleted through our breeding and supply practices. Each year, we responsibly distribute tens of thousands of eggs, caterpillars and pupae to customers across the UK.

A large proportion of our customers include zoos, universities, research groups and conservation organisations that play an active role in protecting threatened habitats and species. We also support a growing community of naturalists, educators and school groups who use live insects to promote environmental awareness and local biodiversity through hands-on learning and community projects.

Our commitment to sustainability ensures that every stage of our work - from breeding to delivery - contributes positively to education, conservation and the long-term health of our natural world.
